Chilli Con Carne The Mexican national dish of beef and beans is ideal any time This dish is best the next day so leave it in the pan and put it in the fridge. Reheat for 20-30 min.
Preparation time 30 min. Cooking time 1.10 - 1.30 hours
Ingredients for ( 4 ) 1.5 Lb. lean minced beef 1 tins red kidney beans 2 onions 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 14 or 16 oz tin of chopped tomatoes 2 desertspoons of hot chilli sauce 2 desertspoons of sweet chilli sauce or 2 level teaspoons chilli powder salt 3 teaspoons of cumin seeds | ||

Heat the oil in a flameproof dish over a low heat and fry the sliced onion until soft.Stir in the meat and continue frying, stirring occasionally, until the meat has browned. Blend in the tomatoes with all their juice, add the hot chilli sauce, sweet chilli sauce and season to taste with the salt. Put the cumin seeds in a cup and crush them, then add to the pan. Now add the drained kidney beans. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on top of the stove for an hour. | ||
